CERTIFICATE IN VISUAL ARTS PROGRAM

The Foundation Year Hybrid Program is the first year of the Three-Year Diploma Program. This program establishes a comprehensive foundation in classical drawing and painting. Instruction is delivered primarily through a structured online format, progressing from basic geometric construction to portrait studies.

Mode of Delivery

This program is delivered in a hybrid format, with online segment followed by an in-person intensive segment in Kentucky USA or Florence, Italy.

Online Instruction:

•⁠ ⁠Structured e-learning modules (approximately 30 modules)

•⁠ ⁠Recorded video lectures and demonstrations (typically 30-60 minutes in duration)

•⁠ ⁠Step-by-step visual and verbal instruction

•⁠ ⁠Supplementary digital materials, including written explanations and visual references

•⁠ ⁠Guided assignments and structured studio practice

•⁠ ⁠Online critiques and instructor feedback delivered through the Learning Management System (LMS)

Studio-Based Component (Mandatory):

•⁠ ⁠11 weeks in-person intensive segment of studio-work with direct instruction and live models for portraiture class.

Academic Structure

The curriculum is progressive and sequential, guiding students from fundamental principles to increasingly complex tasks.

Each ONLINE module includes:

Instruction emphasizes active practice, skill development, and faculty-guided learning.

Each IN-PERSON intensive module includes:

•⁠ ⁠In-studio classes with direct individual and group critique

•⁠ ⁠Assigned practical exercises and their submission

•⁠ ⁠Instructor critique and feedback in person

•⁠ ⁠Painting and drawing with live models in potraiture class

Weekly Instructional Time and Student Workload for Online Segment

The program is structured to meet the requirements of a clock-hour-based academic program in an online environment.

Students are required to complete a minimum of 20 hours per week of instructional and supervised learning activities, which include:

•⁠ ⁠Viewing instructional video content

•⁠ ⁠Participation in scheduled online sessions and critiques

•⁠ ⁠Completion of guided studio assignments

•⁠ ⁠Receiving and applying instructor feedback

In-person 11-weeks segment follows an intensive schedule of 30 contact hours per week.
